Business records for TfL and its predecessors are in the Transport for London Group Archives. The London Metropolitan Archives hold some early records on behalf of the TfL Group Archives. The Mayor of London appoints members of the board that controls TfL, and the position held by Sadiq Khan has been there since May 2016

The Commissioner of Transport for London is responsible for leading a management team. The museum has an extensive depot at the location of Acton that contains material that is impossible to display at the central London museum. The depot has several weekends where it is open.

Occasionally heritage train runs on the Metropolitan line. The 2012 Summer Olympics were a smooth event thanks to the work of the St. Toc. The London Underground Network Operations Centre is located on the fifth floor of Palestra, not within the confines of the St. Thomas's College of Art and Design.

The TfL Commissioner and Chief Officers

The board that directs it is made up of people who are chosen for their understanding of transport issues. The TfL Commissioner and the chief officers are accountable for the day-to-day operations of the organisation.

The London Airport

The system has expanded several times and is now connected to the City of London, the Isle of Dogs and Royal Docks, and to the south of the river by five main branches. It also serves London City Airport. The Mayor of London Boris Johnson canceled the extension to Dagenham Dock in 2008.

The extension of the dock is uncertain. Extensions are being considered. The system runs on its own right of way.

The network has connections with the London Underground and the National Rail system. The system is going to be further integrated into the Underground system. There are a few stations in central London that are not termini.

London Bridge station has several through lines to the more central termini at Cannon Street and Charing Cross, and trains to the latter also call at Waterloo East. The Govia Thameslink Railway crosses the city centre and uses London Bridge's through platforms. Dedicated train services are available for the airports, as well as standard commuter services.

The airport operator, Heathrow Airport Holding, provides the Heathrow Express from Paddington, while the train companies that provide the Gatwick Express from Victoria and the Stansted Express fromLiverpool Street are franchised. Foreign companies and state-owned railways of other European countries own a number of the rail firms in London. The National Rail franchising system does not include the Heathrow Express.

TfL and the Covid Delay

The central section of the line between Paddington and Abbey Wood will not open until the first half of the year of 2022, further delaying the line since the previous planned summer delivery date. TfL and the DfT have been denied a source of income from fares, commercial advertising and retail units at stations because of the escalating costs of Crossrail. The Paris Metro makes up only 38% of its income, while London's fares make up only 42%, according to TfL documents. The Liberal Democrat assembly member said that no one is to blame for the devastating impact of Covid on TfL's day-to-day finances.

The TfL Model for Greater Manchester

TfL has the model for devolution of powers to Greater Manchester. Smaller and medium sized cities can implement some of the elements, such as greater control over buses, ability to negotiate long-term funding settlements and ability to raise local money.
